Scuttle vent conversion

Can a TR6 be converted to the door-style scuttle vent cover and correct me if I am wrong, that very early 6's might have had them. Curious if the door would increase air flow and, obviously, curtail unwanted water into the scuttle upon closure or does the negative air flow pressure below the wind screen suck air in? Never was a fan of the unprotected sheet metal in this area. Early on I cleaned, rust-protected and epoxy-coated the innards. Very tedious, hence the monster-fan overnight treatment whenever I get near water (rain, wash, humidity). Yeah, I know, OCD. I am a dentist, what do you expect.
