what do you use for a screensaver ?

The "off" switch on the monitor! Best "screensaver" money can buy!

at the cost of hydro I should do that to but I use the one from www.fisc-racing .com (its all spridgets)

nothing... I always turn off the screen saver options on my PCs. Well, there was a short period of time that I was using ATI's Radeon 9700 Pro Bacteria (found here: https://ati.amd.com/developer/demos/r9700.html ) You need a DirectX 9 video card to be able to run it. It uses some fancy 3d rendering with some fancy shaders to make it look really nifty on a 17 or 21" monitor. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I stopped using it when I noticed the fans in the PC had started to kick into high speed/high noise mode while the saver was running. Since then, I've reverted back to my shut off the monitor when I'm not using it mode. Saves power and reduces the amount of heat being generated in the room, if nothing else. 21" CRT monitors have a way of warming a room up; I use it and my PCs as a way to warm my place up in the winter time... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

At work, I detest having corprate propaganda being displayed on my PC, and since I can't disable the screen saver there (IT will always reenable the propaganda) I use either that bacteria one I linked up above, or I'll use ATI's "Ruby" calender Screen Saver... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

while we're on computers here... those of you that know, what do you think of AMD's acquisition of ATI? Personally, I think it's a good move on AMDs part, and I've noticed that they took no time in rebranding ATI's website... However, SGI's patent lawsuit against ATI may cause some trouble for AMD down the road.

I was over th' moon at the news (heard it about a month ago). They've been makin' the chips for a while now, we'll see how AMD vs. SGI plays out. Now I ~KNOW~ ATI cards will have Linux compatability. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

nVidia... <much gnashing of teeth>

https://www.xat.com/

A free package for making your own with the images and graphics you want to see.

I've made several, the one I now use has pictures of the Healey going back together. Its faster than the real life effort ever was.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Years back I would have a red text one:

"MICROSOFT FATAL ERROR 666: Insufficient money spent! Insert $20 bill in floppy drive A."

I'd carry it around on a floppy and inflict it wherever possible... from relatives to the 'pooters on display in "big box" stores (before they started passwording access). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

not that passwording access really made a difference back in the Win9X era. All you had to do to by pass the password screen on a non-networked 9X box was press 'esc'... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

James, if you just want to use photos and images, Windows has a built-in screensaver which will do that.

True, but I found the xat one allows a little more flexibility in what I can have it do, and its free so the price is right.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
