Scraping sound and puddle

Two things keeping my MkI Spitfire off the road. An oil leak- imagine that. All I did was tighten the oil pan bolts, and there is a puddle under the car. I hope it not a seal that gave up.

The sound is from the left rear- it is related to car speed, braking nor turning does not change it. Either U joint or wheel bearings is my guess. I replaced the rear axle with a piece I had in inventory and the U joints and bearings sounded and felt good. I don't feel any "slop" in the drive train.
Any thoughts?

Hey,

We talked about your issue at the last DCTRA meeting. Just a thought, if you put the rear up in the air and spin the wheel by hand can you still hear it?

I don't hear it with the wheel off the ground. But I can't get much speed then. I'll have to try it tomorrow and pay closer attention.
Thanx.
