Scissors style folding top frame...

I'm looking at convertible top frames (didn't get one with my car when I bought it). I'm pretty sure that I need the scissors style folding top frame for my '76 'B. I found this scissors style top frame but the seller says it came from a '68. On the other hand, This other scissors style folding top frame appears to be the same style of frame to me but this seller says it fits '71 to '80. Is one of them in error on the year the frame fits? The auction of the frame in the second link has ended already. Would the frame in the first link fit my '76 'B?

First off, all tops can fit on all B's. Just make sure you have the right top for the right frame. But both frames in question are what is refered to as the Micholetti frame. It was the frame used on '71 to '80, MGB's. The consensus is that it's the easiest to use and the best one for a zip out window. That's the frame I have on my car BTW. A "sissor" frame was only used in 1970, and least liked of the bunch.

But to answer your question, the frame in the first auction would fit your car but it was not original equipment for a '68.

Hope that helps!

AH! thanks... Micholetti frame it is then. I thought it was a "scissors style" because the fold points reminded me of "scissor" lifts that some trucks have... Thanks again for the information!

I learn something new everyday... gotta love that /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
