TR6 Scary TR6 sill pictures - anyone need yard fill?

You may remember that this is the TR6 that went up and over the uHaul trailer some months ago.

Since the sills were bent beyond repair and the front bulkhead section was iffy, not to mention the very front inner sills being a bit crusty, it was time to loose the front section of the sill.

Anyone need yard fill? There was a ton of dirt pushed up into the inner sills.

Looks like you have your work cut out for you! Good luck and keep posting pictures of your progress!

A trick to help prevent future rust. Sorry about poor picture quality.

Looks pretty grungy, but as far as sills go, they look a lot more solid than others I've seen. Not a bad place to splice in the front section either, should be nicely hidden with the fender.

I'm sure mine are not too different. One of these days when I'm brave enough, I'll get in there and see how bad it really is. And I'm afraid more of rust flakes than dirt. :nonod:

Hi guys - yeah, the sills could be much worse. Thanks for the drain tube picture Keith, definitely going that way. I was hoping sectioning it there would give me the best chance of hiding any welding ugliness (which my skills will produce a lot of).

I did the drain tubes on mine, but took them out of the front inner wheel well panel.

Good luck Tom!!

yours look better than mine, that's for sure!!!!! Half of mine are not even there to remove. I'm still dismantling.

Ah,
as far as the car (tr4) goes, there is not much to show (at least that i want to at this time). Frankly, i don't want to post these till i can show comparison pics-before and after work on "PATCH"-the now official name of my car. I can tell you that 2 cars will make one-a 61 and a 62. I am now digging into the main body dismantling and cutting now. Might post at the end of the summer.
My latest block pics are posted and i posted the progress on my crank a while back(polishing).
Still collecting parts (just ordered a set of ARP main studs(6) (not head studs but main cap studs)with nuts and washers as well as ARP flywheel bolts(i'm going to mod the crank for 8 bolts instead of 4).
I need those (studs)before i can send in my block for line boring/honing so that the correct and accurate torque can be used for that process. I am also considering skimming the deck (very, very slightly) to ensure correct surface profile and squareness. I want to finish the inside prep of my block before i send it in.
Then i will have the numbers for block height to order the custom pistons i plan.(if you recall, i am using 7" long connecting rods-piston located-smaller journal)

ps-to all-this is a slow,resto-modified build.

oh,
i think i have A-D-D since i split my work on the engine and the bodywork since i find it boring to only do one at a time, i probably should do more bodywork and welding but i like playing with engine stuff too much.

And yes, i did get bit by the grinding devil 2 wks ago and now have a full face sheild by uvex-the goggles didn't cut it (came in through the side) and i had a metal sliver taken out of the corner of my eye.

I had my eyes checked and said "something is bugging my right eye" and she looked and said" WOOO, you've got a chunck of metal in there".
But here is the funny thing, you're going to think i'm a wuss but she put some freezing drops in my eye then went away for a bit and i almost passed out! Weird, didn't hurt or anything, but just had a reaction. I can't give blood either for some reason, same thing. I'm not the squeemish type either. If you broke your leg with the bone sticking out, i could help you out no problem. Strange.
