Okay look at the car close, with the hard top on the liscen plates a NB and with it off there Colorado. Now look at the wheels,
I the center of the wheel its jsut silver and when its a convertable there part black.
O and look at the windsheild, theres a green sticker on the one with the hard top.

Whats up with that?
I dotn think its the same car, what about you, i'm probly wrong but i wold ate to see some one get a bad deal.
 
There are different plates, and I do see the color difference in the wheel hub... but things do and can change in a few years. Not saying it's not a scam, but I have pictures of all my cars with 2 differnt plates... different looking wheels... no plates... wet... dry... sunny... overcast... etc.

So, is it a scam... who knows? Is it the same car? Not enough info in the pictures besides the different ones actually looking several years apart.
 
I think you're being a little paranoid. Although the plates look different the exhaust systems appear the same, and while the wheel centers change the trim rings and basic wheel colors remain. I'd think those would differ too if different cars were used. The color is the same and soo too are the small badges, though it seems they might have pulled the big black plastic bumper "over-riders" off.

Common indicators of a scam aren't to be seen- absurbly low Buy-it-now price for a great car, pre-approved bidders, they seem willing to answer questions, its not a short auction, the seller's only bought 2 items when scammers try to build up lots of + feedback or hi-jack good accounts, etc. And I suspect a scammer would pick something more likely to generate substantial more illicit income than a Spitfire, like a TR4 or 6....

Looks legitimate to me....
 
I'd agree with Kenny and James. My car looks different over the years, and when it comes time to post photos for an ad, you grab what you have. Best way to find out is to ask, yes?
 
I can show you pictures of cars that I've sold looking suspiciously different over the course of a few months. I added decals to my TR8, added wheel caps to an '89 Corvette, painted the engine bay on the BRG TR3.

This appears fine. My Miata has Washington plates and a Texas registration window sticker. I left it on because I once lived in TX. I bought the car in Seattle, but the former owner had also driven the car in TX.
 
The wheel centers are dark in one of the pictures because the chrome is reflecting the black asphalt.

The wheel centers are light in the other picture because the chrome is reflecting the light-colored crushed gravel of the driveway.
 
My guess is that it is the same car. Ktemkin makes a good point about the wheel centers.

Kbash, if you are interested ask the seller a few questions, before bidding on it.

I think you'll find that Spitfires had light silver colored wheel centers some years and black plastic ones in others... some concours fanatic could probably cites models and years.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif
