I seem to recall someone a couple years back ran into a TR3 scam on a yellow tr3 with black interior from a buyer in Missouri/Kansas area.

just got an email from the local club about someone who just got taken too.

Ring any bells with anyone?

We were recently defrauded on the purchase of a 1962 Triumph TR3a, photo is
attached <edit>it wasn't</edit>. The alleged seller lives in Missouri and we are working with the
local Sheriffs Office in tracking him down. I am doing research on my own to
see if I can locate the REAL owner of this vehicle. Please contact your
members and hopefully make some inquiries for us. It appears (from the
photos the scammer sent us) that the VIN might be: 72962
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

just thought if it was the same scam I could get you two together to compare notes.

Thx

send me a PM

(i searched around in the archives and it didn't pop out - searching the 'usual suspects' of registries on that VIN didn't pop anything up either)

I'm thinking that Forum member BoxoRocks ran into this... though I don't know if that was the color scheme.

I guess if the seller has no car then he can make the color scheme almost anything.

yeah I know... I'm not sure what she thinks is going to happen if she finds the real owner of the car. I think the chances are very good that the actual owner doesn't have any idea that pictures of his car are being used.

I just figured that if someone was familiar with the scam they might have uncovered some evidence that could be helpful to her or they might be able to team up and 'compare notes' and get closer to nailing this creep.
