Don 't know all the details yet, but apparently a robbery gone wrong. Responding police got into a gun battle and 3 officers were shot, one (Mario Verbeck) is in critical condition. A second was shot in the arm and a third shot in the chest but his vest saved him. A fourth was injured from either flying shrapnel or glass. This was across the street from the Goodwill I was just at 2 days ago.

One suspect (the one shooting) was himself shot (not killed). However, this morning's paper is very unclear about the second suspect. This is what the paper says: "Authorities said a second suspect in the armed robbery, who did not fire at police and fled the scene, was either arrested on warrants nearby, involved in a fatal rollover near East Central or is still on the loose." (Well, that certainly clears up - nothing).

Here is a video (must be signed in to watch due to age restriction) a friend sent me that shows the shootout as it happened yesterday. (Warning - some my find this disturbing).

Stuff like this makes me wonder why anyone would want to
be a Police Officer.
But I'm glad that there are some who do.
