TR6 Saving a TR6

Pulled a 1975 TR6 out of the weeds last Fri. where it sat for 5 to 8 yrs. After clearing out the trunk and interior, found major rust in the floors & sills (pulled seats out w/o unbolting them !). I'm concerned that if I try to get the body off the frame, it may bend/distort/fold due to the bad sills. Any insights would be appreciated. Is the car worth saving, or does anyone here need 1 1/2 parts cars ?
Also got a totalled 1971 in the deal (rear-ended a tree and donated its drive train to the 1975).
Thanks

The key is whether the frame is also bad, in which case it would be tough to do an economically viable restoration.
You can stiffen the body by temporarily welding the doors closed, or bolting angle iron across the opening, and lift the body with wood beams (2x6) under the rear shelf behind the seats and under the front wheel arches. To lighten the body for lifting remove as much as possible (rear wings, gas tank windshield etc.) beforehand.
Simon.
