SatNav up-date

Please can anyone help?
My Husband has an XKR-S on a 53 plate and he would really like a more up to date SatNav. Does anyone know if there is an update available and where I can get hold of one please? Jaguar have been no help at all and I have also tried NavTeq.
Any info greatly appreciated. This was going to be my Christmas present to him.

Thank you
Caroline

Re: SatNav up-date

Hello Caroline, welcome to the forum.

I'm afraid that I am not able to answer your question for you, but we have a couple of Jaguar techs who frequent this forum and who may be able to steer you in the right direction.

Re: SatNav up-date

Hi, I'm new on this forum but have been on a few others and read a lot of the Jaguar press. The last thing I heard was in a magazine article earlier this year where someone asked for advice about just this problem in their 2003 XKR. The conclusion was that 2003 is the latest update for the XK8/R Sat-Nav system maps (I guess the system in the XKR-S would be the same?). Apparently Alpine could continue offering maps or create a patch so that NAVTEQ maps would work but would need Jaguar's permission...Jaguar apparently say it's down to the supplier so nothing's happened there unless I missed something since. The magazine said they'd pursue the matter and provide an update but I haven't seen one yet. It seems crazy and a real shame not to be able to get an update for a car like this. I'm quite lucky with my STR as it takes the NAVTEQ maps...if I want to pay ÂŁ150 for an update...I'm sticking with the 2003 maps for now but this does bring the occasional odd instruction! You could check with Alpine I guess in case there have been any developments.
