#1 reason to make LBCs smog exempt?!?

SMOG PUMPS! Mine seized up on me tonight. No warning. I pulled into a gas station with the car running "fine". After I filled it up and started the car I had the ever so pleasant super loud fan belt squeal annoying everyone at the station. Initially, I thought "oh, I'll tighten it when I get home". Before I could get to the exit the squeal stopped suddenly, and the charge light came on. "hmmmmmm... fan belt broke!" I thought. I thought correctly. I make a call, and while I wait for assistance, I decide to inspect some stuff. "WOW! The Smog pump/water pump belt doesn't wanna move! I wonder which is frozen?" SMOG PUMP of course. bah!

And to top things off, the alternator adjustment bracket broke. So that thing is on there keeping the belt tight enough to charge the electrical system by the skin of its metal pieces...

BLEEEAAARRRG!!!

Tony! You've got PM! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Rip the guts out of it, replace the bearings and off you go. You have plenty of time before your next smog test anyway, right? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

it's in August... plenty... i guess... but still a pain either way... heh
