I'm looking forward to doing this build. I just need to get a few more things and I think I'll be ready to start. This is going to be the motor for the supercharger.

You really have been a good boy this year haven't you! I'm sure you deserve every last item, Merry Spridget Christmas!

What pistons are you using? You hear me praise the AE 21253 pistons all the time, but this is not the piston you want to use for a blower, they have a higher compression height, and will put the CR in the 9.5 to 1 area, so for a S/C application you're better off using the standard AE 21251 with the lower compression height and a CR of about 8.5 to 1. Blowers don't like alot of compression ratio, 8.0 to 1 would be ideal, 8.5 to 1 will work. We do custom 8.0 to 1 JE piston for the MGBs when using a SC.

I ordered a custom JE that will put my CR at 8.2:1 (if our math is correct). It is only .010 over bore.

Hap, that piston is too preaty to go inside a dirty old engine.

Trevor, looks like a fun couple of months.

It is a long weekend project... If I could find an empty long weekend. sigh...

Wonders what those AE 21253 pistons cost. Round number fine.

bpnorthwest.com sells them and an "equivalent" I think. The one in Hap's picture is a JE unit for an MGB. I can show you a picture of my JE piston and tell you the cost, but the story doesn't have a happy ending.

Not a happy ending Trevor. Now I got to ask..........

When the wife sees the bill...

The last set I bought were $340 with pins and cast iron rings.

Hmm, just a bit more than twice standard pistons.

Sometimes a man needs to be a man. Be sure to hide future bills.

All joking aside, my wife wouldn't never get upset about what I spend on my hobby as long as we are financially sound (I just feel guilty sometimes). She trusts that I wouldn't not spend the money unless we had the discretionary funds. And... it is amazing what she can spend on bicycles and equipment.

I'd be interested in hearing what you paid for your JE piston, and what ring stack you used. I design my SC MGB piston to use a Total Seal gapless 2nd ring set.

Aren't "discretionary funds" what you give to your "other" wife??!

I'll go dig out the ticket later. I thought about the total seal gap-less ring, but the machinist talked me out of it since the motor will be running such low boost as compared to a turbo. (I really do not know much about them, I only asked him about them because someone else mentioned it to me) What are your thoughts on the matter?
