Have you ever watched Overhaulin', the TV show where they rebuild a car in a week?

After a year, I've gotten my '74 GT to the point were they usually get at the end of the first day.

I doubt they do the entire car in a week even though they segment it to make us think so....anyway, yours will be much nicer because all they do to places like you've found on yours are throw body filler to them. Doubt those cars would last a year & when you're finished with yours it'll be a lifetime car!
 
I'd love to have at least one of my projects overhauled. I've got toooo many.

It looks like the left front frame rail took a hit at some point. There's also a hole in the front apron.

I think all three holes had something to do with straightening the body.
 
I added a few more pictures to the gallery, showing the accident damage to the right tail light area.

When I took the fenders and doors out of the passenger compartment, I found rust-through, where the inner sill, floor, and firewall meet.

I also found that a DPO had coated the passenger floor with some sort of asphalt mat, possibly a jurasic version of Dynamat. Heat from the exhaust system melted part of the one on the driver's side into sludge, but I've made progress chiseling it out from the passenger's side with a screwdriver.

Only after I've removed all of it, can I assess whether I need to replace the floors, or I can just replace the rusted areas with sheet metal.

How much of the floor can you replace before it becomes easier to do the whole thing?

Go right ahead and they can pick the one they want. Actually I've had my Ranger the longest and that'd be a vehicle, even though it's original, I would not mind a serious overhall on. Swap out the 6 for an 8, drop it to the ground and make it a convertible. That'd be a sweet ride. I doubt they'd touch the MG's, Jag or Beemer.
 
You put 40-50 people working around the clock in shifts and you could get an amazing amount of work done in a week. Its all about the logistics. They plan which car they are going to overhaul weeks in advance so they can get all the parts they think they will ever need, even if they end up not needing them, so they can have all the parts they need before they start. If you notice, they only work on the outside appearance with the collaborators, not the mechanical specification etc...

With a John's Cars kit they could swap a V8 into that Jaguar lickety split, so you never know, they could go for the Jaguar. :wink:
