If that actually happened, it's really <span style="font-style: italic">not funny at all</span>. And, I'm a bit surprised that anyone posted it here.
In fact, it is <span style="text-decoration: underline">animal abuse</span> at it worst (e.g., trying to profit from abusing the cat).

And I'm embarrassed that a BCF member posted it here.
I work with animals often. Seeing what happens to an animal when it eats string, wire, cable, etc. is awful. The intestines can get strangulated, the animal is in agony, and the guts explode. Just watching that video of an innocent cat being purposefully fed wire is a horror. And if it was "joke" - well, even worse.

Regardless of whether it's real or not, posting such drivel glorifies animal abuse and inevitably leads folks to think such acts are "funny". There's no denying it. 
I really can't imagine why this, or anything remotely like it would be funny or worthy of a joke. If I saw someone doing something like this to an animal, even if it was being staged for the purpose of a video like the one above, I'd intervene without hesitation.
Animal cruelty is no joke, and should <span style="text-decoration: underline">never</span> be the subject of jokes.

I'm as big an animal lover as anyone and have rescued more cats and dogs than I can count. But we have to be able to laught at stuff once in a while. Like when Mongo punched out the horse on Blazing Saddles - no horses were actually harmed.
