Hey folks,

I have a 92 XJ6 and the headliner has begun to sag. Well ok it is sagging and actually has come untucked from the rear window. Does anyone know of a homespun solution?

Sorry to say that there is no solution that doesn't involve replacing the fabric. The good news is that it can be done fairly inexpensively. I had my XJS done by an upholstery shop locally for about $85 and it looks great. I did have to uninstall the backing and reinstall when it was done but it was easy as pie.
 
The $85 trim shop is the easiest. I've had success with a spray can of contact cement and endless time of glueing the headliner back a little at a time. The possibility of bubbles and messy glue spots are a never ending posibility. I've seen a trim shop replace the whole headliner material without removing it from the car. Take your pick, not easy to do yourself, and trim shops are not really expensive as you think.

Less aggro, instant (well, almost) gratification when "farmed out".

If you just *must* DIY, 3M spray (Super 77) adhesive is your best bet, with the thing out of the car and upside-down. My personal best results are when starting in the middle and working to the edges. Tedious task.

Typical JAG Saloon problem . Remove the headliner and reinstall it using a good 3M spray adhesive. May need extra hands--Fwiw--Keoke
