Safety-wiring knock-offs

Trailer wheels, aren't they? One could drill the little holes between the larger ones. Wouldn't that be kool!

These wheels were from a Chrysler Town and Country van:

I bet you could weld in a Healey spline hub and do a pretty fair imitation of the Dunlop wheel. I even know a source for the "DUNLOP" decals to put on them to make them more realistic. Probably wouldn't save any weight, but would save a lot of money over the Dunlops

That's a Triumph GT6 top that was sectioned on. There's also an ACME top that looks similar (no relation to Wile E. Coyote)

I have the ACME top for sale, although it's for - and currently installed on - a 100, not a six-cylinder Healey.

I never had a wire wheel fall off, but will add that with badly worn hubs and or splines I don't think the self tightening works. Had a couple cars with wire wheels when I was young and impecunious, and over time the knock offs would definitely get looser and need more hammer work to tighten back up. I know that is past the point of being safe and they should be replaced, but anyway, my own experience self tightening doesn't work with badly worn rears that can give you a little clunk when you stop and start.

As far as wheels and hubs in good shape, whack them on tight, no worries, no problems.
