Interesting picture here.....

I think this is a regular S1 not the 26R.
The car looks fantastic w/ the 26R type headlight covers.
Can you do this to a regular S1?

Also....What is the weight of the S1 in comparison to later Elans?

I have become quite a fan of the Kent engine after driving the Vixen.....
The Elan has the same bottom end right?

Same bottom end, yup. And it's frozen snot, remember. You can hand lay-up about any shape ya want. The S1, IIRC was all of 1250~1300 pounds. Mine (S3) is at 1450 or so. With a respectably assembled T/C pushing 120-ish HP, you can figger it out!

WHEEE!!!!!

...and that appears to be a drophead with a hardtop. I ~WANT THAT~ top!!!!

I also like the rear (round lights)
And the absence of the window frame.

Not a really good picture of lights but, you get the idea.

Shhh!!!! I think they were off'n a 'rumpf...

I'll keep my "football" ones, thankyewverrymuch.

A Lotus that looks like this.....
(Just add hardtop & light covers)

At a reasonable price?
And nearly Climax fast......Me likes!

BTW....Check out the wobblies.

You got a bead on one of these and not tellin' us, Dave?!?!?

...and them 'wobblies' on the Elite are "ta-ta's"!!!

Naaa.....I was talking to torquewench yesterday.

She likes the TR6.

Gonna have to make sure she knows what all is out there. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Frozen snot kicks butt!! That's all she's gotta know! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Well, that car has a 26R bodyshell on it. Only the serial numbers would indicate as to whether it is a real one or not as a lot of cars were brought up to 26R spec. The 26R shell is made of thinner fiberglass to save weight and it has fender flares to allow wider tires. you can buy a 26R shell as replacement or you could certainly mold the fender flares to match

26R's were made from S1's and S2's

....I passed up a 26R back in '76 or so, for STUPID MONEY even "back then"... t'was the real thing, I just couldn't see bringing home a third Lotus at the time. What a 'nidiot'!!!

Yeah, Doc, and I passed on a couple of 23B's that I could have had for $2500 each too. What a dummy!
My Elite story is too painful to relate.

Mine has to do with a possible 100S "Barn find".
Yea.....Like one of the 10 missing ones!

(I didn't know what one was at the time, so I didn't go look)
