S-type Estate in the works....

I was in the barber shop waiting my turn yesterday and picked up a copy of "Road & Track", I think, probably the current edition. There was a small article about the upcoming redesign of the Jaguar S-type and Jaguar's plans to build a wagon version of the model. I loved the artist's sketch of the new S-type's design and the sketch of the Estate version was really sharp. I just wondered if anyone else had seen this article and wondered if anyone else thought that it was a great design (for a station wagon, that is)?

A while back, I was thinking about writing some automotive articles on a freelance basis and registered with Ford's media service. I'll log in tomorrow and see if there is any more specific information on the car in their press release section. If the sketch is representative of the finished product, I think it will be a success for Jaguar in the wagon niche.

No more comments from me about a Jaguar Station Wagon! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pukeface.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/square.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif

Bruce,

Point well taken. I almost titled this, "Please don't hit me, but Jaguar is going to produce another station wagon". My second choice was "Have you ever heard the old saying, 'Don't kill the messenger'?" Seriously, though, check out a sketch of the car. It's going to be extremely sharp (for a station wagon /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pukeface.gif).

I think a S-Type wagon would look good. Better than the ugly (imo) X-Type. BMW, Audi, Mercedes all make premium wagons so why not?

They should also make a 2dr shooting brake too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It isn't the car really. I am sure it will look nice. Probably drive well. It is just the idea of it. As someone said earlier it is like a Porsche SUV. In my view, something is just wrong there

I've seen the pics too, and I thought it was pretty sweet, and the S-type isn't even my favorite of the current offerings. I think this would be a good move for Jag as the sport wagon market keeps gaining ground. I personally bet that as the cost of feeding the SUV's go up more and more people will be looking for these wagons.
