RVC Tach

I'm looking for an RVC tach to use in an original Bugeye tach. How do you know which ones are RVC if you can't see the face of the tach? Do they come from the 1500 models? I also need a nonfunctional Bugeye tach to put it in and I assume you can use MK1 and MK2 Sprites as doners.
Thanks, Rut

The 1500 should have an RVC tach.

I don't think you can glance at the face of the tach and tell which type it is. You have to have a good, close-up view to see whether or not it has "RVC" printed on the face.

If you can see the back of the tach the difference is readily apparent. The RVC tachs typically have an insulated plate on their back side and two terminals will be on that plate. One terminal will be a male spade lug for 12V power in and the other will be a bullet connector for connecting a wire going off to coil (-).

The early RVI tachs will either have the little block on the back with the loop of white wire or on the later models, two bullet connectors will be on the back with the loop of white wire being inside the gauge case.

Thanks, I would like to identify one from eBay pictures and I don't know what to look for. This should help a lot if they show the rear.
Thanks, Rut
