you should be able to paint it in pieces, I did my TR6 that way, and with urethanes and hardners you can wet sand and buff it to get the dust specs out and you can also clear coat it if you want to. Just talk to your paint guy for compatable systems and dont use primers from the local auto store, better use SEMs for spot priming if you go down to metal after you prime with 2 part epoxy
