Rust underneath battery

You could alternatively move the battery to the trunk. Not as hard as you'd think, and you can box it in nicely in there.

Shawn, is that actually dirt or grease that I see on the hood latch??? It just can't be! Must be a flaw in the picture.

I knew I shouldn't have used the flash! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

Its dirty grease. Hey I said it was dusty under there. Did you see my "Dirty Car" post in the Pub!

For those of you interested, Moss (or is it VB?) does market a fake Lucas slip-over battery cover that covers your Optima gel battery to give it the "original" look. I thought that was a cute idea, don't know what issues one would have with it.

What would you guys think of welding a 1/4 inch steel perch out of tubular steel. Perhaps three pieces of tubluar steel along the sides and middle of the tray on which atop the plastic battery box could sit. The steel risers would be alongside the water channels in the steel tray. This would allow air movement to dry out water. I'm essentially doing new construction since I'm replacing the entire tray with a replacement. I was thinking that I may exagerate the forward pitch of the tray to help with water drainage.
