Rust repair needed for 66 AH 3000

I need a welder in central Virginia (Richmond preferably) with experience replacing inner and outer sills as well as welding in repair panels due to rust. Shops I have contacted so far seem to want to do a full restoration. That may happen later but for now I just need it structurally sound and I will do the mechanical work as time and budget permits.

Your experiences either good or bad are welcomed.
 
Gary, I can't help you specifically, but you might also try the Austin Healey forum, someone may know of an AH specialist not too far away, one of the reasons you may be getting the answers you are is that replacement of the inner and outer sills can effect the alignment of fender and door gaps, shops may be hesitant to do the work If they don't feel they have control over the whole process.
 
Go to Harbor Freight and buy a mig welder and learn. You will be amazed at what you can do. They only cost a few hrs. of what a shop would charge. Plenty of books out there and videos on YouTube.
 
I understand door and panel fit are issues if sills are no done correctly. I have the mig welder just not sure it is strong enough to do the job. But for what I was quoted by one shop I can buy a TIG, plasma cutter, get a welders certificate and still save a lot! If I can't find a reasonable price for the repairs I may go ahead with mechanical jobs and improve my welding skills. I will post on AH forum and see if local clubs have any suggestions.
 
I found a shop with Healey experience that is reasonable, but not cheap. Spring before actual work can begin but it gives me time to fix things that won't get in the way of welding. Thanks for the advice
