TR4/4A Running the motor witout the gearbox installed?

I think this has been asked before but not sure. Motor in the car...If the back of the motor is supported are there any issues with running the motor?
 
Should be OK, as long as you deal with exhaust, oil pressure and all that. I've even run them just sitting in the floor.

Make sure it's secure, though. It may jump around some when it first fires off, might knock over a simple jack or whatever.
 
OK. I'll make sure the motor is secured solidly. The reason I'm doing this is so a potential buyer can hear the motor run. I'm pretty sure I have the wrong clutch pressure plate installed and I don't want to buy a new clutch kit as I'm selling the car. Leave that for the new owner. I'll pull the gearbox to stop the clanging...see my other post.
 
IMHO....problematical.....spend the money and fix the gearbox/clutch...you should get a better sale price in excess of your fix costs.
