Driving into NYC years ago on the West Side Highway, it was always a thrill to see the big ships in their berths - Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, and later United States. I even remember seeing the Normandie laying on its side during WW11 - I forgot if it was sabotaged or not. Have to look it up.

It was never determined 100% for sure, but it's believed it was careless welding/cutting that started it.
