Home court advantage?

If it wasn't for bad luck, poor Rubens wouldn't have had any luck at all!!! :wall: All in all an entertaining race though!!

First back-to-back F1 titles for Britain since Graham Hill ('68) and Jackie Stewart ('69). Pretty heady company for young Button, I'd say.

Interesting race, well done by Button!

Britain now has 14 world champions - more than any other country. They are Mike Hawthorn, Graham Hill (2), Jim Clark (2), John Surtees, Jackie Stewart (3), James Hunt, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Lewis Hamilton, and Jenson Button.

I wuz jumpin' up-an-down like a six year old on Christmas!

Interesting . . . how such a small, cold, rainy country could have such a monopoly on F1 champions. Most of the western European countries have great motoring legacies: Germany (Benz; Auto Union, etc.); France (Peugeot; Talbot, etc.); Italy (Ferrari and the litany of great cars and drivers), etc.

Britain on top, by a wide margin. Why, one wonders? Why so much better?

Since the '50s, most of the great cars came out of England. Cooper, BRM, Lotus, Brabham, McLaren, Williams, etc. They've always had a very strong presence in F1.

Because some (many) Brits still operate with the attitude that made them a world power for so many years.

Plus, there is a lot of motor racing going on there. Something like 18 tracks in an area much smaller than California.
