Rubber hoses; heater box and valve cover breather

Heater inlet and outlet hoses. Are generic water hoses from the local auto parts store ok to use for the Heater boxes inlet and outlet hoses? Moss diagram show the outlet hose to have a curve where it attaches to the box. Moss does not sell either hose. British Car Specialist does for $25 each. Is that money well spent? How important is that curve in the hose for installation and function? Will a straight hose crimp making the curve and restrict water flow?

Valve cover breather hoses. The rubber elbow, short and long straight hoses that go the rear air cleaner, should use fuel hoses, why not water? Why is that? British Car Specialist catalog says, “Use fuel grade hose for the breather not heater hose.”

The heater hoses are standard 1/2" ID water hoses. The curves are gentle; no problems.

The breather at the bottom is a 90 degree special hose with Moss PN. The breather hoses at the top are 5/8" ID. I've used ordinary auto parts store hose for this and it lasts for years and is easy to replace. If you can't get the fuel/vapor hose, I wouldn't agonize over it. It'll take years to get funky.

Use good auto parts hoses for the heater. The only reason for using brand-name hoses is the difficulty in replacing them.

The breather hoses should be rated for oil/vapor/PVC, but you can get them from any auto parts store.

The elbow at the bottom has to have that bend in it. You should get the standard part, but it will perish before the other hoses. I wrapped mine in silicone tape to give longer life.
