rubber hose

I was looking for a 2 inch rubber hose to connect the gas filler tub to the gas cap assembly. Napa said it is $40.00 a foot (sold in 2 inch increments). Water hose is $16.00 a foot as in 2 inch sections. Excuse my ignorance but what is the difference and does it matter as fuel does not really sit in contact for long?

Hi Rich,
Without looking at the hose, I'd be cautious of the water hose being eaten by the gas.

If the big suppliers, BPNW, Moss, TRF, Victoria British and whoever else you healey folks use. Look for a hydraulic hose repair shop and/or a bearing supply shop. Most large cities have one or more and you will find fuel compatible hose(in bulk) for decent prices.

I know you live in Tahoe, but this place is down the hill in Rocklin if you are headed that way.

I have bought some stuff from them. I don't know for sure that they have the size needed but they have carried every other part I have needed in hose.

Nearly ALL boat sales & service places stock and sell a variety of large diameters of fuel hose. Most cabin cruisers have a deck filler and a remote fuel tank.

Try one if there is one near you, otherwise "Goggle" for "fuel hose".
