Just asking.....there was one sorta like that for sale here except it had a Pinto engine in it the last time I saw it - couldn't get out of its own way...they tried to sell it for years & then it disappeared.

A Pinto couldn't get out of it's own way,ISTR.

Re: Rubber Bumper MG "B"

Well Good news Bad news,

1980 MGB 86K miles, skipping & timing off to hide skip I imagine, complete right side body work that was poorly done, probably reason for new paint incorrect color. drivers seat in permanment recline. top new but ill fitted. Passenger door sounded terrible during closing. Good news is it sold for $4400.00 at auction if you own a B now.

Bad news for me cause I felt it was a$1500.00 car, and still do.

I did sneak over and took a quick look at the "Stag" Silver A/T car with a set of 4 lug bolt on crager wire wheels (Factory?) but car suffered from rust bubbles along all door bottoms and body edge joints. car did seem all together. Not for me

If any one is interested in this car let me know and I will keep a eye on it, the hood opens from the back? if not hood is warped

Re: Rubber Bumper MG "B"

Not bad news for you. Bad news is missin the car by $100 at your price. I can't "B"lieve it brought that much. What auction was it at?

Re: Rubber Bumper MG "B"

FWIW, taking the RB MGB with the single Stromberg and switiching to dual SU HS4 carbs set of the earlier MGBs, along with a earlier exhaust manifold or header is good way to wake up the RB MGB, that conversion along is worht about 20 hp. As David said, a MGB feel refined compared to a MGB, but still sporty, a car you won't mind doing a longer trip in. And while a MG is bigger than the Spridget, it in the right hands will carve a corner jufine, just ask David (Gundy) or Kim what a certain white GT can do in the mountains, they seen it first hand :driving:

Re: Rubber Bumper MG "B"

Local auction house in Conway SC, sometimes they sell outright, today it went to auction
I have seen alot better looking B's on Craigs list for alot less money with in a 100 miles.

That's what I'm thinking.

Oh heck yeah. Our MGB will corner far faster than the wife will allow.
As with most motor sports...it's more to do with a sport's car than a sports car.
Hap's a sport. :jester:
