So what will happen if Rover/MG go belly-up in the UK? I am guessing that if the Chinese company don't step in and they go into receivership, then they will be no more.

The only good thing would be that it would make all your MG's more valuable I would think. I used to work for a British Leyland dealership before they started selling Peugeot/Citroen/Talbot.

eh, we haven't been able to buy a new MG (not new old stock) in the US since the early 80's. So, I don't think MGR going under will really effect the value of the classic MGs. Of course, I could be wrong about this.

I heard from a friend of mine, who is in the automotive industry that MG/Rover has been on the block for quite a while now. They have tried to form a relationship with a Chinese company but that deal fell through as the Chinese wanted MG/Rover to absorb all of the health and retirement benefits before the Chinese would buy them out. Basically the Chinese company didn't want any liabilities at all. So, unless something drastic happens MG/Rover will be no more. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Sad, in a way, but I haven't been too impressed with recent MG/Rover cars anyway so it isn't that much of a loss to me.

I've read that MG Rover has been doing complex negociations about the bridging loan with the chinese company SAIC, but what is SAIC?

Shanghai Automotive Industial Group, but its all done now there will be no loan, there will be no rescue, there will be no Rover for the forseeable future. The redundency notices start flowing at 3PM in Longbridge. Rover/MG RIP /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif
