[h=5]Here we find Stuart Lewis-Evans and Tony Harris offloading a Cooper Mk VIIa 500cc F3 car from their Land Rover at Crystal Palace in 1953 (I think that this must have been at the Redex Trophy which he won, beating Stirling Moss in one of the heats en-route). Tragically Stuart was killed in 1958 when he crashed heavily at the season ending Moroccan Grand Prix held on the dusty Ain-Diab circuit. The accident was caused when his Vanwall's engine seized sending him into barriers at high speed where his car burst into flames. He was flown back to the UK but succumbed to his injuries in hospital six days later.

I can only imagine just how slow and unstable that must have been to drive. Brave lads indeed.
