Rover 200 spirit

Buenas dias everyone.........................

I am contemplating the purchase of a 1999 Rover 200 spirit with about 120000km and a 1.4 L engine. It appears to be in excellent mechancial and body shape and has had the timing belt replaced recently. It has also had a recent inspection for roadworthiness in Stuttgart,Germany and is pollution green (ie: meets German standards). However I am wary of buying a car whose pedigree and history I am uninformed about.
Can anyone bring me up to speed about things such as handling, winter driving, parts and service requirements, etc.? It is being sold by a British mechanic who works fro the Rover dealership near my school.

Thanks for any help and advice forthcoming.

The Rover 200 was the first car produced under that label that was a Rover product, and not a re-badged Honda. 1999 was the last year that this model was produced, before becoming the Rover 25 for 2000. The Spirit designation looks to be a limited edition name, meant to clear the remaining 200 models before the introduction of the new car.

Previous ownership/maintenance by a Rover mechanic is a plus.

Good luck!
