Route 70 to Missouri?

I'm considering taking 80 east to Salt Lake City and turning south to route 70 for the rest of the way to Missouri this June. Any opinions? (gas stations every 180mi?)

thanks,
Glen Byrns

That's the mostly logical way across -- you can also can continue all the way across on I80 to Lincoln, Nebraska (this route is slightly shorter). Lots of flat country that way. One way is Nebraska, the other is Kansas...

I70 has some pretty stretches in Utah and Colorado, and there are a couple of nice routes down to I70 from I80 depending on the time you have.

How far you coming in MO? I-70 is closed in St. Louis, from I-255/270 to I-170 all lanes for repaving until next year.

Jim has advised me that 50 is preferable for scenery and pavement quality. I don't plan on using 80 any farther that absolutely necessary (Salt Lake City).
