Rough running at weird intervals-any thoughts?

Re: Rough running at weird intervals-GOT IT!!!!!!

The way I get that nut back on is cup my left hand under the carb and use my thumb and middlefinger to hold/turn the nut. Usually works after a few tries and if you drop the nut you got a nice cup to catch it in.

All the screws on your carb should be standard machine screws and readily available at your local hardware store.

Re: Rough running at weird intervals-GOT IT!!!!!!

Found an "easy" way to get the lower rear nut on to secure the carb- I used 2 drops of super glue to temporarily fix the lock washer and the nut. From the Passenger (carb) side, hold the card w/ the right hand in an overgrip that supports the carb and holds the throttle arm open (big hands!). Don't worry about the throttle cable spring return arm, you can loosen the bracket afterwards and fix that. Move the carb into position with the nut/washer combo held securly over the stud hole. when you feel the stud contact the washer/nut combo, give it a half turn and it should grip the stud.

After fooling with it the other night for a couple hours and getting discouraged and drunk, it took only 5 minutes this time, and that was twice. Got so excited the first time to try my new method that I forgot the gasket! oh well. It is running nice and STEADY!!! Currently enjoying the fruits of my labor in the garage w/ a chocolate stout and the Red Sox game on the radio. I love the warmer weather!
