Rotten Frame Update!

I am pleased to announce that the shop I bought my car from has stepped up to the plate and reimbursed me for a NEW Ratco frame, or at least the lions share of it.

It took a little effort (and polite) insistence on my end, but it all worked out and with no lawyers involved (thank God). My faith in mankind has been restored...at least for the time being...lol.

Thanks for all the support and suggestions regarding the dilemma.

Re: Rotten Frame Update!

I hear they are great frames, even more stout than the originals. Have fun putting it all together. No you can make sure all is good.

Re: Rotten Frame Update!

Keep the pics coming, because I'm sure that you won't stop with the frame.

Re: Rotten Frame Update!

Good on yer, Tab. Always nice to hear about the good stuff.
I echo Paul, Keep the pics coming. Some of us can't read more than a few lines without pictures, heh.

Cheers, Tinkerman

Re: Rotten Frame Update!

That is excellent news!! They must want to stay in business since they are protecting their reputation. Nice to hear. That is what buying from a dealer is supposed to be about.

I sent you a PM. Let me know if you got it.
Thanks

Re: Rotten Frame Update!

Did you also mention the rotted lower end and the rotted diff? Glad to hear the good news!

Re: Rotten Frame Update!

Oh yea...and the rotted interior, and tires, and wheels, and engine...

LOL!

Actually, this car was a perfect example of "you can't judge a book by it's cover". I tore the engine down last weekend and it was a mess on the inside.
It looked nice and shiny on the outside, but I never could get the timing right and sometimes it just would not start after it warmed up.

The camshaft was so loose that it had almost 1/4" of end play and the distributor shaft a 1/2" of play from top to bottom. The crank was being held in place by bolts he must have bought from the local Home Depot and the valve and piston tops were so encrusted with carbon, you would have thought the engine had 100,000 miles on it, not 3,500. Whoever put it together used so much of that blue gasket sealer on it that I found it in the oil pan, along with a bunch of metal sawdust.

You just never know what you're gonna get on a car this old.
