rotor removal

I have a 62 BT7 and am attempting to replace the rotor. The new one is a "push on", so I'm assuming the old one should just pull off. It's not budging. Any helpful hints???

artq, you might try giving it a good sharp blow on the top center with a hammer, perhaps two or three, then grab it with a vice grip and "yank" that puppy off. :hammer:

If I remember rightly on my BJ7, I tapped a screw driver down in the gap between the hub and the rotar in a few positions around the perimeter, after undoing the nuts of course.

The rotor on my BT7 appears to be pushed or snapped on. There are no screws that I can see. With everything still attached, I'm a little reluctant to bang too hard with a hammer so a few strokes around the edges with a screwdriver are next on my list unless there is another idea out there.

I would try the screwdriver approach too. Just be carefull that no chips that might come off end up inside the distributor.

Art's trying to remove his ignition rotor, I believe, so the hammer and screwdriver technique might be a bit overkill. ... though, if the vice grips fail, it might come to that.
