Interesting opinions/approaches. I don't have the skills, equipment or dedicated time to do the body-off resto of my Daimler. It is now in the 3rd year at a very qualified restorer's shop, and I guess I will have about 35k in the resto by the time it's done. (Man, that chrome replating is pricey) But...I am not counting! I intend to drive the wheels off it (not literally, done that already)while I still can. At 70+, I know the time to enjoy the cars we love is NOW!!! And also the reason I bought one that was restored in the late 80's to be my driver while I wait. Bottom line- do what works for you and keep a smile on your face. :driving:
 
I'm doing a 65 Mustang for the wife...only strip and tinker when I have nothing else to do(thats why its taking so long. Its down to almost the last chunk...the bare shell. Bigger than an MG but my rig I build will hold it. Then We wrap it up and trailer it to amarillo to be soda blasted....actually pretty reasonable. Then wrapped back up and trailered back to the shop, back on the spit and in the booth. Etching primer than the final work before paint. I gave up counting my labor a long time ago....eben on alot of customers cars. As long as I can afford it, I'll keep treating it like a hobby, and when I need help..like now with my bum knee....I have lots of volunteers.
