Root canal

Had a root canal this am on a back molar. This dentist uses space-age equipment. Standing X-Ray machine taking a circular 3-dimensional x-ray like an MRI or CT Scan, a digital X-Ray where the technician never had to go out of the room, a Wand to administer anaesthetic instead of a syringe (no pain at all), used a microscope to look inside the tooth while he poked around, used a rubber mouthpiece so I didn't have to stretch my mouth wide open and it took him onle 1 hour to do the complete job. I go back next week for the final filling. Best dentist I ever went to.

Sounds like you have a great dentist or Root canal specialist.
Hope things continue well for you.

Had several and they are usually not very pleasant. I bet they still use Gutta Percha as the base filling. I had one done in Dublin in 1961 and when it was redone some 40 years later the dentist said this is like dental archeology. But they are still using the same material. Something about it that they can't beat.

I went to an oral surgeon several years ago who had the standing 3d xray. A step in the right direction except it missed a cavity on the inside of a wisdom tooth.

Dental Archeology; at 71 I get similar comments.

I've only had one root canal done 25 years ago. Even then I was amazed that they filled the tooth with gutta percha.
