Roller rocker arms and valve seals - ideas?

65 in my garage today. Paul, drive on over. Plenty of room!

Love to, but can't make the trip because the d--- bumpers aren't done at the platers yet!!!

The cold weather caused the shop to cool down and the final chrome bath went below 180F, so no plating until it stabilizes well above that. The last step has ended up being the longest, but I want them to be right, so I wait.

Arraaaggghhh!!!!

Oh well, next week it will be some other problem with some other part. That's what makes this so interesting.

Bring them out, there's a plater about 6 miles from the hose. Besides, you don't need no stinkin bumpers anyway.

Ever try to get a part from a shop that's been working on it for 8 weeks? Besides, he's got the money to complete it, so I want them looking good when I do pick them up.

Thanks for the invite, but Seattle doesn't seem warm enough for me at this time of the year. If I could go anywhere, it would be down to see Dale and to get that red devil of his running for more than six miles at a time.

If you are planning to pull the engine in the future why not wait and do it all then. Get all your ducks in a row learn all you can and decide what you want out of the performance upgrade. You'll enjoy the car for one more year while your learning what to do. I did just that and with out any help from the form (didn't know it existed then) I read all that I could and amazingly what most of what I just read on your topic is what I did. This was stated earlier that increasing compression and a mild street cam is the best noticeable increase in power you will have. Very true. Next is to get your engine breathing better to take advantage of the increased compression. Get ahold of a Race preparation manual and it's packed full of info. You won't be able to put it down. Also go to https://www.iskycams.com/ for more cam info. As for the seals the machine shop that did my head work gave me these new Teflon seals that have worked fine. Very brittle to install but suppose to last the longest. We'll see. Once you pull the rockers off you will need to pressurized the cylinder. Take an old spark plug and drill it out and tap it with pipe threads and screw in a air line nipple. All you need to do then is screw in the modified plug and connect your air line to it and wallah, a pressurized chamber and your valves will not fall into the cylinder. Good Luck!

Well Paul, you got me started with this thread. I called John at a local engine machine shop and we are making a list of things to do. Then I mentioned to my wife, Shirley, that I was thinking of doing some things to the TR6 engine and she said it sounds like a good idea and I should go ahead.

So, we are working out details and in a month or so, after I get a current project out of the shop, we will probably proceed. Will proceed if she has her way!

Shirley is as excited as I am about this. It got me to thinking that we could set up a call-line for Triumph challenged wives to call and talk to Shirley and share her excitement. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Your Shirley sounds like a real prize. My Elaine suddenly needs a whole new bathroom redo.

I just got back from the shop. John has everything needed to do my work. In fact he has one of the most complete shops I have seen. Even has a dyno. He said he uses it mostly for race engines and tractor-pull engines. A TRactor engine maybe?

All I know is that I'm innocent, in case anyones wife is planning to question me further about work to anyone else's car.

TR3ATR250 - good advice for me but too late for Tom. Dale is in deep and Bill is suffering from "lack of matching parts itus".

And I just got the bill for my third distributor, which is going to be greeted by a "you just bought another what, with a different curve? that's just wonderful, dear..."
"and it cost HOW MUCH????"

Time to lay low for awhile....
