Watchin too. I loved to race in the rain, but don't much care to watch a rain race. This will be an added challenge for all the teams.
The one 24 that I participated in (74 or 75 ISTR) with the American Motors Hornet team, Rear braking system failed early and we had to change front pads every hour. But we finished! It was the coldest I've ever been at all the speed weeks races I attended or participated in. Was there for the first Continental, too.
never had the budget to go racing myself. I used to watch Nascar until I saw a American Lemans race. Love watching the road/endurance races. Especially with multiple classes in the same race (makes the drivers work for the win)
Last fall we talked about going to the race...again...and I said "why bother? It's going to rain." Pretty much been the on-going joke for years Enjoying watching it on TV though!
Yesterday iRacing had the inaugural 2.4-hours of Daytona with the Riley Daytona Prototype cars. What a hoot. I started 30th, left the track dodging someone that spun, dropped to dead last, up to 8th by the 2/3 mark, and finished 10th after the last pit stop (and two more minor offs). Averaged 1:44.x.
For some reason I couldn't capture all 40 cars (probably a bandwidth issue). I started 30th in the field. There were around 950 participants, split into groups of 35-40 based on rating (ie:skill level from past performance) and gridded by qualifying times.
