This one is easy to miss.... :

P.A. SYSTEM (female v.o.)
The white zone is for immediate loading
and unloading of passengers only. There is
no stopping in the red zone.

P.A. SYSTEM (male v.o.)
The red zone is for immediate loading and
unloading of passengers. There is no
stopping in the white zone.

P.A. SYSTEM (female v.o.)
No. The white zone is for loading and
unloading, and there is no stopping in the
red zone.

P.A. SYSTEM (male v.o.)
The red zone has always been for loading
and unloading, and there is never stopping
in a white zone.

P.A. SYSTEM (female v.o.)
Don't tell me which zone is for stopping
and which zone is for loading.

P.A. SYSTEM (male v.o.)
Listen, Betty. Don't start up with your
white zone "stuff" again!

That exchange is one of my favorites from the movie. Good friend and I, whenever we were in an airport on the way to/from mission trips to Honduras, would do the routine every time we heard the announcement about parking!

I saw this movie as a kid and it took me ~YEARS~ to get some of the sight gags.

"Check #2 engine. It's a little hot."

Annunciator flashes:

A little hot... A little hot... A little hot...

There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

I get the Turkish prison reference, but I don't get the gladiator movie one. Someone fill me in.

Visuals, Billy, visuals.

Which gladiator movie? I get the "Midnight Express" reference w/ the turkish prison. I get where he's goin', just can't figure out which exact gladiator movie he is refering to.

I'm afraid if we get any more specific, we'd be violatin' Basil's rule he has in red print!

A few weeks ago, I saw the movie Zero Hour on TMC. It is the movie that "Airplane" spoofs. If you get a chance to see it, be sure to watch. You'll wind up laughing at this serious movie because you will be remembering all the funny lines from "Airplane".

It's a shame films like this won't be made anymore.

Sad but true......however it seems every once a great while a movie like this does come along - but fewer and farther between these days.

My wife just went to see Secretariat and said it was a definite must see movie!

Absolutely!! Really, really good....

Elaine: What's his problem?

Ted: It's Lt. Herwitz. Very shell-shocked. Thinks he's Ethel Merman.

Herwitz: You'll be swell! You'll be great! Gonna have the whole world on a plate! Startin' here! Startin' now! Honey everything's comin' up roses....

Ted: War is ****.

South Pacific, Gone With The Wind and the many past films of that stature are the type of movies that will never be made again for many reasons. One is cost recovery and profit, along with the fact that people today want shoot em up, blood letting films that are so far outside the realm of normality their disgusting. I have a hard time trying to figure out our culture and where it's going. It's the kids I worry about, they learn a lot just by observation. I guess I'm just :square:. PJ

There are plenty of good films out there but most mainstream consumers like us will never see them.

I've been getting Netflix for several years and it's a treasure trove of really fabulous movies. Lots of excellent foreign films, plus scores of really good independent ones. Most will never make it to a theater, but they're just as good as any popular director's film.

There are tons of good films out there (without gratuitous violence/blood/sex, too), if you look hard enough. :yesnod:

All right, all right!!! Were getting too serious here. A little less reverence if you please.
