Rocker shaft dis/reassembly

The alloy pedestals on the four cyl. motors are a real tight fit on the shaft. Is one advised to heat them when removing/reinstalling them on a rocker shaft rebuild -- or just twist 'em off and on?

I've always just twisted mine. Don't suppose a little heat would hurt, though, I've just never seen the need.

Got to be careful with heat around aluminum. Melts pretty low. Like Randall, I just twisted mine on and off. The shaft doesnt move in the pedestals. Might put some WD-40 in there to assist with the twisting.

Good Luck, Tinkerman

Twist. I reassembled mine with Lucas Oil Stabilizer. It wasn't fun to work with, but everything was well lubed when finished.
