Sounds like a splended plan.
 
Been using Avaiation Form-A-Gasket on the valve cover for years. VC leaks are not a issue here.

Yep, I've used gorilla snot as well, also have used rubber cement and Black RTV (Black RTV is the only kind of silicone I use on anything, after trying everything known to man on the race cars, it's the stickiest for sure) all of the above have worked good for me. This is always a much greater concern when using a aluminum valve cover instead of the stock tin one, the aluminum one don't retain the gaskets near as well and much more care needs to be taken.
 
When I go to the parts store and ask for 'Gorilla Snot', will they know what I mean?
 
You may get looked at "funny" if the place is staffed with 'youngins'. Same for "weasel pi**" ("loose juice"-- PB Blaster, etc.).

First time I heard the term "weasel p***" was from my grandmother! She was referencing WD-40. A classic moment.

If it's yelow, it's gorilla snot. Any other color, it's elephant snot.
Basicaly, it's any of the industrial strength contact cement. There is usually 8 or more varities at your local Home Depot type joint.
