Rock musical "Hair"

I've had the song "Hair" stuck in my head for days. There was a version on the radio in (I think) 1967 of this and "Age of Aquarious" that I can't find anywhere. All I find on the 'net and Youtube are later versions that just aren't the same. Does anyone have the originals?

Re: Rock musical "Hair"

Sorry to say I don't have any Hair :jester:

Re: Rock musical "Hair"

I have an LP soundtrack from the original Broadway musical.

"Hair" was a hit by the Cowsills back in the day, and "Age of Aquarius" was the Fifth Dimension's biggie. Both got lots of radio play. Neither one is on the original soundtrack.

Never will forget - saw the production when it came to New Orleans (1968?). Folks picketed outside because of the nudity. We were disappointed, though; only nudity happened when the stage was darkened!

Just pulled my album out to check something, and I had forgotten that the song, "Easy to Be Hard" came from the musical as well!

Re: Rock musical "Hair"

Like the Cowsills and the Fifth Dimension, Three Dog Night had the hit. But the music came from the production.

Good times!

And is now the catch phrase of Lilly, Pfizer, and Glaxo-Smith-Kline.

This was one of my favorites from that era. I loved love Judith Durham's voice.

Yeah, they just don't write meaningful lyrics like that anymore!

Re: Rock musical "Hair"

See that's the problem, everyone thinks all the good stuff was written years ago and the new stuff is rubbish. I say the new stuff is every bit as meaningful as anything ever written before.

Like this:

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oooh!
Oh-oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh-oh!
Caught in a bad romance
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oooh!
Oh-oh-oh-oooh-oh-oh-oh!
Caught in a bad romance
Rah rah ah-ah-ah!
Ro mah ro-mah-mah
Gaga Ooh-la-la!
Want your bad romance

Re: Rock musical "Hair"

Holy cow, The Seekers, haven't listened in years. A very talented group.

Do yourself a favor and go to the YouTube site (click on the video, above), and listen to their other songs. Judith Durham's voice, like a bird singing. Not many popular rock "artists" sing like that nowadays. :cryin:

"I am Austrailian" and "You're My Spirit", how inspiring! I was a big fan, still have the (scratchy) albums.

Thanks for posting, great memories! :yesnod:

You have to be careful in South Carolina singing about never finding another Ewe.
