Hey all

Wondering if anyone here has used floor pans from rock auto and if they are any good. I've had good experience with the company but never bought pans before. Any input on the best way to go appreciated Hope to get the interior removed completely this week and begin the rust repair. Thanks.

Daniel

They carry floor pans? Really?

Usually the ticket is to use British Heritage parts (typically the "black" rather than red panels) from Moss, TRF or VB.

I've found that generally speaking the Moss and TRF panels fit better, but you need to let us know what car you are working on Daniel.

Oh wait - this is the GT6 right? (always a good idea to post specifically the car and year you are working on).

Make sure to check out SpitBits. Great folks, and they specialise in Spitfires/GT6s.

https://www.spitbits.com/

Just pick up the phone and call them, their online catalog is a bit of a pain but you'll get good service from them.

They are local too, just up in LINCOLN, CA 95648

Thanks for the reply. Yes it's a 1970 gt6+. The rock auto part number is trif..... and they are black in the pics. I wonder if they are the TRF flavor you mentioned in last post. I will call tomorrow and ask them who the manufacturer is. $55 bucks sounds like a great price to me. Thanks for the help.

Try and focus on fit/quality before price if you can. The difference in price won't be that bad but trying to make poorly fitting panels work properly is a chore....

Might also be worth having someone on the other end of the phone who knows the cars too.

Let us know what you find!

Daniel, I can't get an image of the floorpans on Rockauto's website. Spitbits show a full floorpan(left or right) for $235. Are the Rockauto pans fullsize or just footwell sized? Seems like a big price difference(55vs.235) If you only need to replace the footwell, get the cheap ones, but if you're looking for the full floorpan you better ask Rockauto what they're selling. I think I've seen those smaller floorpans on ebay for around $70, that's why I question Rockauto's price...
Let us know, 55 bux for a fullsize floorpan is a great price.(just noticed V-B lists them for $220)

Hey all

Thanks for the replies. Don't worry I won't buy a piece of junk to save a buck. Btdt. I called rock auto and the manufacturer is Classic 2 Current. I went to their website and it appears that the panels are the front sections only and not a full side. Their picture looked generic so I'm not sure what they actually look like. I did find positive comments online about the service and fit of their panels on other makes. I really need to get my seats out and remove everything before I order anything.

Today I chopped up the rusty land rover 109 chassis that was blocking the gt6 from the garage and got the axles out of the way. This should enable me to reach the car with my welder, air tools, etc.

Thanks again and I'll keep you all posted on what I do regarding my floors.

Daniel
