Road Trip

ever have that feeling someone was watching you?

Don't be alarmed, but I can see you now

The hallway in my N.O apartment on 4104 Prytania was haunted. For some reason it always felt way too familiar to me. I couldn't put my finger on it, this went on for about a week. My friend came by and we were in the hallway while I was hanging stuff in the closet (first time I was ever in there). I was telling him about this weird "been there before" feeling, how I already knew how all the plumbing ran in the house, the people who lived next door and the hallway but I've never been anyplace like it before. He said it felt haunted to him. While I was in mid sentence it hit me,

"Dude, I've had recurring dreams about this place ever since I was a kid!".

At EXACTLY that same moment, for some unknown reason a raised my right hand up to three tiny little metal shelves above me that appeared to be empty. I still don't have any idea why I did that. My hand instinctively went straight to the bottom back of the middle shelf where I felt something. I picked it up, it was a small 1940's or 50's style clear diamond shaped plastic key fob that read "Dream House". I almost carped in my pants. I speechlessly turn to my friend and show him what I found, he almost carped in his pants too....we quicly left the closet and I never went back in there. I spoke with my landlord about what I found. She told me two women lived in that apartment for the last 45 years.....and they NEVER used that closet ....and she stated she knew that for a fact. She didn't know why, only that there just a few newspapers ever in there and had no ideas where that fob came from in the past 60 or so years she owned the house.

Everyone that ever came over (and I do mean everyone) always said the same thing, that the hallway was haunted....and I never said anything to them before about it. One guy from work picked up on it right away. The front door opened into the hallway, upon opening it for us to enter, he burst out, "DUDE, you're hallway is haunted!" That was the only place you could feel anything, the rest of the joint was fine. Nothing ever happened, but I slept with my .45 and kept one eye on the attic entrance which was in my bedroom ceiling. Well, almost nothing happened.... One night I AD'd through the bedroom floor which was directly above my landladies bed at 3a.m. Luckily I had a glasers chambered that I traded my manager of the strip club some really hot Cor-Bons for. One night after work we sat at the bar doing shots and trading ammo while we waited for the girls to get ready to leave. Thank goodness for that cause even at 165gn HP it woulda punched all the way through if it didn't hit a joist.

For the record, I've ALWAYS had the same feeling about a hotel (most likely in Hawaii) with a figure 8 swimming pool with a swim up bar and something about "Breathe" from dark Side of the Moon. I've been looking for this place since I was kid. I saw this place long before the hallway, I want to say I've seen it from infancy. I told Kelly wouldn't it be ironic for me to look for this place all my life only to die there from a slip-and-fall by the pool right after I found it.
