Road Speed Calculator

I posted this on another forum I participate in and thought you gents might find it useful. It's an excel spreadsheet that helps understand drivetrain parameters effect on roadspeed. I built it to help in wheel and tire choice but I've found many other uses. It's set up for a late model spit but if you know the drive ratios, I can be used for any vehicle.

I'd love any feedback you have or any useability suggestion. Send any comments direct to me via email or post them here.

Sorry Mark,

It's a Microsoft Excel Workbook. You need a version of MS Excel > Excel 97

So Mark,
I assume this chart showing a 4speed with OD would be similar to my 5 speed TR7? If so, the chart is deadly accurate with what I find with mine.

Mark:
Handy, and saves me the trouble of doing my own "Sawtooth" charts when I'm changing gear ratios.
Thanks for the link.

Thanks Mark. Only took about 10 seconds to download (even through my dog-slow, dial-up line).
We use a similar Excel program to calculate speeds for our FIRST Robot:

I'll pass this on to the team as an alternate tool for '05.
On a similar note, I've used my hand-held GPS to verify speedometer error in my cars. It works well, even with the top up.
