It's sound theory but you would have to input the variables like weight, tire dia. exactly or you could be off quite a bit with the calculation. For just plain comparisons of tweaks or changes, it should be reasonably accurate. Obviously a FLAT road is important as well. The major cost of a dyno these days seems to be a way to dissipate the power during the test and cool the engine. This does away with that problem.
Now to find a flat road where multiple runs can be made without getting arrested....
Hi George,
This gadget should provide hours & hours of something to do, for a very low dollar cost per hour. If you are so inclined it will keep you busy for many days. I have done similar things with an Excel spread sheet & stop watch. Unless you are really into engine development it is entertainment only. There are other electronic "G" meters (accelerometers) available which do much the same thing but don't require a computer program to analyze.

The new G-tech pro has the ability to connect to a PC via USB port and graph/plot data, which is a nice feature that the original G-tech was not capable of. It also reads rpm through a cigarette lighter connection, which the older model also could not do. I don't know which is capable of providing more accurate data though, this one or the G-tech.
