Ring gear wear....

What would be an acceptable amount of wear on the flywheel ring gear?
I have the corners nicked off mine, and have no idea on what peramiters dictate if it's good or bad.
TIA!

I believe they are supposed to be that way

Corners should all be nicked off on the back side toward the tranny. Made that way so the gear on the starter will engage smoothly.

Aint that good news then!
Like I said, this is my first engine out, so I've just discovered a whole new bunch of metal things to play around with.
Cheers guys.
