At lunch time today I took a ride with my coworker in his Datsun fairlady 2000 solex.
That thing is incredibly quick. Imagine a midget with superb handeling and 140 (or more)highly responsive horsepower. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
I was truely impressed. we blipped down the highway at an effortless 100mph. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif
I think I like LJCs too
THe only thing I don't like it the cramped cockpit. I guess I'll keep my TR /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Here's a pic of the little demon

Interesting.... they put it between the Porsches & the Internationals!

...and a huge Jaguar Saloon. - hehehehehehehehe.

Seriously though... I've always liked the LJC's. I want one of each of the following... Honda S600, Datsun 2000 Fairlady, and the Toyota 2000GT. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

They are one nice knock-off of an LBC!

Yeah, a lot of folks say that due to the "MGB headlights". But Datsun claims that their original car (the 1500 Fairlady) was actually designed before the MGB.
One of my friends had one in college (new) and it was a rocket compared to my Bugeye at the time. Funny to think that it's a 5-speed with 140 HP....that's exactly what my '00 Miata has.

Yep, its got a knock-off of the Sunbeam Alpine engine!

A friends parents had one of those when I was growing up. I always liked it. I think its what got me hooked because a few tears later I bought my first LBC, a 67 MGB.

It was a mix in our row at the show, but that row was for our club. And our club is a Sports car club, not a British sports car club. We've got everything from Midgets to Testarossas in our club. It's a lot of fun.
The row behind us was the Internationals and other medium duty trucks that diden't fall into other catagories.

Is the 2000 engine the Sunbeam knockoff? that is an overhead cam engine.(this one has the twin Solex /Weber DCOE knockoffs) The 1500 and 1600 were pushrod engines

I thought it was a knock of the the BMC B engine. I know someone who used an MGB cam in his fairlady.

Also, the carbs are Hitachi's built under license from SU.

The 1600,yes, but the 2000 was a single overhead cam, similar to the Mercedes of the time. I enjoyed my 2000 for a few years, but it was really a point and squirt kind of car. Handled even worse than our TR6s.

Really?! This little devil handles brilliantly. It's the hot rod one too. It actually was a race car for a while but is now back to street duty.
I think it'll out handle a lot of the LBC's I've ever drivin. I know it could out corner a bone stock 6 (blow a 3 or 4 into the weeds) but I still, for some reason, just like the LBCs better.
Granted I don't know what mods have already been done to this perticular cars suspension.
