Re: Riccardo Patrese's wife on her first "hot lap"

Not the reaction I generally get when taking someone for a ride.

Can't wait for the Missus to see this one...

Re: Riccardo Patrese's wife on her first "hot lap"

Very funny. That was great! He was just out for a Sunday drive, don't know why she panicked?

Re: Riccardo Patrese's wife on her first "hot lap

Horsemits got a "demo" in my pal's prepped 3.0L 911 around Sebring. A REAL lap, helmets, belts and hammer 'n tongs... She got out with th' biggest S.E.G. you can imagine and proclaimed: "HEY! I wanna learn how to DO THAT!!!"

The "pilot" is a PCA Driving Instructor, he didn't spare her any "discomfort" so she got the "whole show". The gal's got pluck.

Re: Riccardo Patrese's wife on her first "hot lap

It would be fair to note that going around as driver and as passenger are two totally different things.

My bet is that any of you drivers would make damned nervous passengers going around the track at exactly the same rate as you'd drive around at.

I have turned down offers...

I'm seriously NOT interested in being a passenger :eeek:

Re: Riccardo Patrese's wife on her first "hot lap

I am not even a good passenger in a street car!!!

Is that like one of those track day instructors? (We call em PDX's here)

NO WAY am I getting into some rich kids GT2 w/o a roll cage and all the other safety stuff as an instructor.
(Free track time is not worth it)

Then there are the hired track workers as opposed to 'professional' SCCA flaggers...
Lots of luck if anything bad does happen.

Re: Riccardo Patrese's wife on her first "hot lap

At an auto x where speeds are less it is great idea to get in a passenger seat before your run . That chick seems typical reaction to the situation . funny

A friend that raced sports racers was out for a street drive with me in a TR-3 on a winding road. He swore I was trying to kill him and said that he thought I was a better driver than that.

I just handed him the keys and swapped places with him. It took him about 3 miles to apologize and admit that the car was trying to kill BOTH of us....

How you see it depends a lot on where you are sitting.
